MARQUIS YACHTS
CE "A" CLASSIFICATION
The boating world benefits from the influence and certification of numerous associations and institutions that define appropriate design, building, construction and component specifications for recreational marine products. One of the most stringent set of specifications is the European Directive for Recreational Craft (94/25/EC).
In 1996 the 25 countries that comprise the European Union established a list of specifications that must be met before a boat or yacht can be imported into an EU country. Requirements include specifications regarding helm design, structural standards, stability, freeboard, buoyancy and flotation, deck and superstructure construction, maximum loading, handling characteristics, steering system, electrical systems, navigation lights and much more.
Marquis Yachts utilizes The International Marine Certification Institute (IMCI) as an independent certification organization to inspect and certify that our yachts meet the requirements of the European Directive for Recreational Craft (94/25/EC). Products not intended for use in Europe, but are built to these specifications and certified by the IMCI benefit from these rigid standards as well.
All models within the Marquis Yacht line have been certified by the IMCI and meet or exceed CE "A" classification which is the most rigid of the four CE categories and applies to ocean going recreational vessels from 12m to 78m (about 39’ to 256’ LOA). Specifically, the CE "A" classification indicates construction specifications that are geared to confront at least a Force 8 (40 knot) wind and at least 13’ seas. More information about the International Marine Certification Institute and European Communities Directive for Recreational Craft (94/25/EC) can be found at www.imci.org.
Not all large yachts conform to the CE "A" Classification. In fact, at the time this is written, Marquis Yachts is the only builder of large yachts in the USA whose entire product line is built to CE "A" standards and certified by the IMCI.
For Marquis it means that an established, experienced and credible international organization has certified that all Marquis Yachts are built to the highest yacht standards in the world. It also means that the people at Marquis Yachts have decided that they want to provide their customers not only the best looking and most comfortable yacht available but also the strongest, best built and best equipped yacht anywhere in the world. When we use the term "world class" to describe Marquis Yachts…we can back it up.
